We would like to thank Suzhou Singapore International School (SSIS) for hosting tutor training in two Lexis Education courses this month – TYCEMC, our training aimed for all teachers working with young children, and LFL, the first international edition of our flagship literacy course.
SSIS is showing the way forward in China as an institution that values the professional development of not only their own teachers but the profession in general.
FEEDBACK FROM TYCEMC
Throughly enjoyable course – really lovely tolearn how the conventions of language can be used to develop children’s oral and written communication. Very clear and thorough. The modules are well organised and show definite profession. I can really see how I can begin to implement this with my students. I think it will be valuable to the school once it has been rolled out a few times. Melanie Hayes, Grade 1 Teacher, Suzhou Singapore International School
I have truly enjoyed John’s course. He made the teaching and learning relevant, practical and fun! All the lessons were well sequenced and provided a good model for how we can support teachers. The teaching and learning cycle will become part of my unit planning! Beatriz Lopez, Head of ESOL, Hangzhou International School
John is extremely knowledgeable and humorous. A lot of “aha” moments experienced. Profoundly rich and systematically laid out. Extremely valuable to me for understanding what pre-school and kindergarten students need to experience for a solid foundation to set for elementary. Hailing Wu, Deputy Head of Kindergarten, Nanwai King’s College School
This has been an amazing 4 days which will have helped improve my own practice and by sharing this with my colleagues it will have a profound impact on the school as a whole. John is an amazing presenter with a wealth of knowledge. Karen Brown-Miller, KG Coordinator and Teacher, Suzhou Singapore International School
Many applicable ideas/teaching strategies that I plan to use in my classroom. Kathleen Tseo Wu, EAL leader, Yew Chung International School of Shanghai
FEEDBACK FROM LFL
Very engrossing and useful. Content and resources extremely good. This tool will really aid students in their literacy development. The resources are some of the best I’ve had on a course. Organised, professional, valid. Steve Alexander Jones, Teacher of Math and Science, Suzhou Singapore International School
Very enjoyable. Will look forward to implementing and trialling different aspects. Adam Monnington, Teacher (Primary), Britannica International School Shanghai
An outstanding course for those interested in how language and literacy can be taught to support students. I thoroughly enjoyed this course, and as I went through the days of training, I learned a lot that makes sense of my existing practice and future practice. The content of the course is initially theory-heavy, but this establishes the foundation for the future modules. Content is both challenging at times and stimulating. This course is extremely valuable. As a coordinator assembling a curriculum for a new school, there are already a number of key aspects of the course I intend to integrate into the curriculum. Robert Steventon, English Coordinator (Primary), Nanwai Kings College London
Very well presented. Predictable structure through the manuals. Extremely valuable for me as a language teacher and valuable to the school as it will help bring awareness of literacy across disciplines. Lina Maria Tovar Leon (Farrow), Head of Grade 6 and Teacher of Language Acquisition, Suzhou Singapore International School
