Language & Learning Development Continuum

The team at Lexis Education is pleased to be able to share with you an essential tool for supporting your students’ achievements: the Language & Learning Development Continuum (LLDC).

What is the LLDC?

The LLDC is a free resource for all teachers in supporting their students achieve the learning outcomes of the curriculum, and in reporting on those achievements. It outlines the language demands that need to be addressed in supporting students’ learning and it should be used in conjunction with the benchmarks or standards of the various disciplines that comprise a school’s curriculum.

Download the LLDC

How to use the LLDC?

In this video, John Polias, the writer of the LLDC, takes you through the principles that the Continuum is founded on, its structural features, and some advice about using it.

We recommend downloading and printing the LLDC prior to watching the video.

Case studies

In order to show you how powerful the LLDC can be, we have created 4 case studies analysing texts produced by 4 students:

  • A 14yo English student
  • A 15yo Technology student
  • A 9yo EAL student
  • A 9yo EAL student

Any feedback?

We’re excited for you to start using the Continuum and discover its value. If you have any feedback, please do get in touch: info@lexised.com.
