Hi Lexis Education community,
As the year draws to a close, we wanted to reflect on the accomplishments of our team, tutors and community at large throughout the past year.
We hope you enjoy this wrap up and we look forward to another exciting year in 2025.
Our 2024 highlights
🧑🎓 We developed and released our first online, self-paced course, How Language Works. Over 50 teachers are currently completing the 20-hour course, with 20 teachers having already completed all 7 modules.
🎉 We held our first symposium in Melbourne, with 60 teachers and leaders joining us to celebrate the power of a rich, language-based pedagogy.
🎙️ We interviewed inspiring education leaders such as Jo Tooley from the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office, Mitchell Cooper from Hangzhou International School and Donna Schuster from the Singapore American School.
🎤 We presented at the AATE/ALEA Conference in Adelaide, the TESOL Arabia conference in Dubai and the NAP Conference in Melbourne.
✨ We ran free webinars on how to improve outcomes for multilingual learners through a language-based pedagogy. If you are interested in our team delivering a free webinar to your school staff to introduce them to a language-based pedagogy, get in touch.
👥 We saw a return to face-to-face training, which we couldn’t be more thrilled about, and delivered sessions in Brisbane, Adelaide, Dubai, Singapore and Melbourne.
🤩 We celebrated some outstanding results from our tutors and schools, including Elisabeth Murdoch College, a secondary school based in Victoria who joined the coveted ’30 Club’ in Melbourne after adopting a whole-school language-based approach based on our 3L course. The school’s median study score for 2024 was 31, up from 26 in 2021 (the “30” in the club’s name denotes a school’s median study score – the marker of an academically solid institution).
💡 We published more free resources for our tutors and even more useful insights and tips via our blog posts.
🌎 We connected with hundreds of educators on LinkedIn, a great place to engage with Lexis Education and other tutors’ work in the field. We encourage anyone interested in keeping up to date with our work and community to follow us.
