Exploring the structure of stories with young students

Every culture has a different way of telling stories, with the structures of those stories embedded in our understandings from an early age, making the explicit teaching of the structures found in English stories imperative for our EAL learners.

In this presentation, Lynette Lingard explores how understanding story structures can support students to both comprehend and write stories.

This presentation was originally delivered at the VicTESOL International Conference on 15 August 2025 in Melbourne, and Lynette has kindly recorded it as a short, 5-min video.
