Teaching ESL Students in Mainstream Classrooms – Middlesbrough, Jul 2017

16 teachers joined us at the Acklam Green Centre in Middlesbrough from 17 to 21 July 2017 to be trained as tutors as part of the Teaching ESL Students in Mainstream Classrooms Tutor Training.

The feedback

It has been valuable to me and the school as we try to help piece together a whole-school language policy. Michael Bryson, MYP Language Acquisition Lead at Kaust International IB school

This course will be valuable to my school to evaluate provision for ESL learners and identify next steps. It was delivered professionally with many opportunities for discussion and clarification. Catherine Sengelow, Assistant SENCo at Stranton Primary School

I feel very confident in delivering the course content and am excited to get started! The course will greatly enrich teaching and learning. Keep doing what you are doing! Amy Simpson, EAL Coordinator at Acklam Grange School

Thoroughly enjoyed learning more about language learning. Lots of new concepts which are fundamental to my role of developing language. As EAL lead it will allow me to develop whole school approaches that will develop the teaching and learning of EAL children. Julie Tate, Class Teacher at Bowesfield Primary School

Really makes you question delivery of curriculum at whole school level and challenges pedagogical understanding. Enjoyed undertaking a course that actually moved my thinking and taught me new concepts. Stacey Carlisle, Deputy Head Teacher at Newport Primary School

Thoroughly enjoyed the course and it has given me the confidence and knowledge to go back to my school and talk about how to go forward. The delivery was excellent – engaging and informative, ensuring that everyone participated comfortably and has a sense of success. One of the best and hopefully useful courses I have attended. Karen Raitano, Teacher at St Margaret Clitherow’s Catholic Primary School

Really enjoyed the course. John was excellent at delivering and explaining issues. The course covered a good range of subjects lots to think about. It is very valuable to myself and will be beneficial for the staff to be trained, which will benefit all of our students. Claire Gunn, Specilised HLTA & EAL transition at Hight Tunstall College of Science
