Really enjoyed doing this. I have grown considerably in 5 days! It will take some thought and time to pull each module together but I have seen how effective it can be. Thank you for such patience and hard work. The impact of it has been and will be phenomenal. Vivek Nair, Director, School of the Nations (TESMC tutor)
Impressed and thoroughly appreciative. I feel overwhelmed by how much development I’ve experienced in only a single week. The content is comprehensive and its sequence is intelligently orchestrated; it practices what it preaches. Invaluable to me as a model in which to frame both my understanding and my professional planning. It’s even inspired and informed my vision for the ideal’s school and program. Benjamin Greuter, IGCSE ESL Coordinator, Ningbo HD Bilingual School (TESMC tutor)
Enjoyment – 10/10. Brilliant group. Impact – huge. Best PD I’ve done in 25 years. I feel empowered to lead literacy development in our school and excited that I can take an active part in this chapter. Content is so relevant and accessible. The perfect blend of theory and practice. Vicky Mills, Literacy Coach, St Joseph’s College Geelong (LfL tutor)
I enjoyed the course so much. The course helped me to overcome a lot of barriers in my current teaching positions. Everyone in my school from teachers to students will benefit from this course. The delivery was fantastic. John is an expert in his field. Werner Greyvenstein, EAL Teacher, International Preparatory School (TESMC tutor)
This course was so enjoyable. I hung onto every word the entire course. It opened my eyes to a deeper and more meaningful way to enhance my teaching practice. Best PD I have ever done. This will completely change the way I teach, how I teach, what I teach. Loved this course so much. So much more than I ever could have imagined. Heather Schulz, EAL Teacher, Horsham West and Haven Primary Schools (TESMC tutor)
Loved it all. Structure and sequencing of content is excellent. Relevant and thought-provoking. By far the single most valuable training I have done. Impact on my own practice and increase in student outcomes begins immediately. Illuminating, entertaining, informing. Susan Botcharova, Senior English Teacher, Yew Chung International School of Beijing (TESMC tutor)
This has been an amazing 4 days which will have helped improve my own practice and by sharing this with my colleagues it will have a profound impact on the school as a whole. John is an amazing presenter with a wealth of knowledge. Karen Brown-Miller, KG Coordinator and Teacher, Suzhou Singapore International School (TYCEMC tutor)
Highly enjoyable with a significant impact for me as teacher, head of learning area and as a member of a particular school community. Content was demanding, challenging and interesting. Excellent delivery. (HLW) Angela Italiano, HoLa Humanities, Cyril Jackson Senior Campus (HLW tutor)
Very engrossing and useful. Content and resources extremely good. This tool will really aid students in their literacy development. The resources are some of the best I’ve had on a course. Organised, professional, valid. Steve Alexander Jones, Teacher of Math and Science, Suzhou Singapore International School (LfL tutor)
Many applicable ideas/teaching strategies that I plan to use in my classroom. Kathleen Tseo Wu, EAL leader, Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (TYCEMC tutor)
Very positive and excited about the future of my areas of responsibility and teaching seeing the impact of implementing the work. Very in-depth and also very understandable, although I was grateful to have a background understanding of the area. Profoundly valuable. I can’t wait to see it all in action and the benefit to the students. I wish there were more hours in the day so I could redesign all the teaching programs ready for next year! Nikki Davenport, English Teacher, Cyril Jackson Senior Campus (HLW tutor)
Fantastic – exactly what our school was looking for. Full of practical strategies to effectively teach language. Thomas Hawkey, EAL/D Teacher, Mabel Park State High School (TESMC tutor)
Exceeded my expectations! It validated some of the things we’re already implementing but it has really given me a path forward where I can take the school, teachers and students. 150% will be valuable to school, leadership, staff and students. I am so excited to take this back and share all I have learnt. Naomi Kitching, EAL/D Coordinator, Mabel Park State High School (TESMC tutor)
An outstanding course for those interested in how language and literacy can be taught to support students. I thoroughly enjoyed this course, and as I went through the days of training, I learned a lot that makes sense of my existing practice and future practice. The content of the course is initially theory-heavy, but this establishes the foundation for the future modules. Content is both challenging at times and stimulating. This course is extremely valuable. As a coordinator assembling a curriculum for a new school, there are already a number of key aspects of the course I intend to integrate into the curriculum. Robert Steventon, English Coordinator (Primary), Nanwai Kings College London (LfL tutor)
Enjoyed this course immensely. The practical steps and skills will help improve the learning outcomes for students. I leave with a feeling of hope and positivity. The course has inspired me to re think the methods I use to teach writing. Lucy Grande, Literacy Leading Teacher, Copperfield College (LfL tutor)
Second round of a Lexis Education workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very impactful and eye opening to the many possibilities and ways of looking at and delivering content to improve literacy. Content was very accessible. Built up nicely in stages with engaging activities to help reinforce the new knowledge. Extremely valuable to all. It will change the way our students learn which is much more crucial than what they learn. Faryal Nrazi, Classroom Teacher, JLW Leader, Copperfield College (LfL tutor)
Incredible value and potential. It consolidated a lot of other PD. I’m very excited about the potential for this course to improve student learning. You have filled many gaps in my learning. Kate Angikiamo, Learning Leader English, Galen Catholic College (LfL tutor)
It was an excellent course which had excellent pace and has given me the tools needed to deliver the course myself. Excellent content with lots of valuable tips that can be used within my practice and will help other teachers after the course is delivered. Lots of techniques and a better understanding as to how I can modify my practice to support EAL learners. This will benefit the children of the school and other teachers. Maria Smyth, Head of Primary English & Geography, Britannica International School Shanghai (TESMC tutor)
Thoroughly enjoyed! An intense four days, but it has really given me the opportunity to strengthen my understanding of the literacy strategies. Extremely valuable for my own personal growth. Revisiting what I completed in 2008 in ESL in the Mainstream and bringing connections from this to my actual teaching. Gemma Gray, Literacy Coordinator, St Josephs College Geelong (LfL tutor)
